The space

The hidden in the Adirondacks awaits on the edge of Independence River! This 2-bedroom + loft, 1-bathroom log cabin boasts a charming interior, outdoor amenities, and a view to take your breath away. No detail has been spared from this rustic-yet-modern retreat – from the woodstove to the cozy loft – making it the perfect getaway for groups of 6. Enjoy a location where fishing, hiking, snowshoeing, and outdoor adventure abound. No matter the season, this spot is sure to impress!

Bedroom 1: Queen Bed | Bedroom 2: 2 Full Beds | Loft: Twin Bed

‘Independence River Cabin’ will feel more like something out of a National Geographic Magazine – tucked away on 5.7 acres of old-growth forest, private land. Enjoy a prime location just 65 feet from the awesome Independence River, with great views of the gentle rapids and pools from the covered deck.

This property is truly an all-season destination. Leaf peepers will love the colors in the fall, while horseback riders can trot through trails in the cool summertime. If you’re here for the winter months, reach out about the snowshoes available.

Modern furnishings and rustic charm perfectly coincide in the cabin’s interior. The decor is complete with great new furniture, log cedar beds, and a bar top island that will truly amaze you!

The kitchen area features all new appliances, a refrigerator, electric cook stove, microwave, and more. The pièce de résistance of the kitchen is a special 4-inch full tree slab converted to be the counters and an island.

During the downtime, unwind in front of the flat-screen TV or enjoy a romantic evening around the wood stove in the living area. All the comforts of home have been provided, including satellite/cable, unlimited wireless internet, and electric heating.

End each night on a sweet note with s’mores around the fire pit – best enjoyed with a guitar and your go-to campfire songs. Linger outside late into the evening, until the sound of the river lulls you into a dreamy state and you’re ready to retire inside.

Two bedrooms offer accommodations for 6 guests, with additional space available on the twin bed in the loft.

The Adirondacks are an adventurer’s paradise!  Our Independence River Cabin is located within the Adirondack Park boundary and is truly a unique spot to just enjoy the trails and area.

Independence River has great trout fishing, so don’t forget your rod and reel! Fish on miles of unobstructed water situated on NYS DEC managed Stateland. Discover the rapids, small pools, waterfalls, islands, cliffs, and sandbars upstream.

Whether hiking or horseback riding, you can venture out to find the 65-mile Otter Creek State Forest Trail System. This trail doubles as a prime cross-country ski route in the winter!

With higher elevation comes more snow! Spend your winter snowmobiling the Lewis County Trail System, easily accessible from the cabin.

Upon booking, you’ll be sent a full list of even more to do in the area. You’ll never grow tired of time spent in Glenfield!

This Property is adjacent to the famous Otter Creek Horse Trails (hiker friendly). Adjacent to the western edge of the Adirondack Park to the east of Lake Ontario, south of Lowville in Lewis County are two public forest areas managed by the State Department of Environmental Conservation, (the DEC): the Independence River Wild Forest, and the Independence River and Otter Creek State Forest. There are arguably 65 wonderful miles of riding trails through these two adjacent wilderness areas. They are called the Otter Creek Horse Trails. The Otter Creek Horse Trails are a series of old sandy roads and wooded trails that traverse a beautifully diversified region, populated with wildlife. Once off the sandy roads, the trails wind their way along sand flats and through wooded areas, access picturesque glacial ponds, and have climbs that lead to fine river vistas. If you and your horse like water, the trails follow or cross the Independence River and no less than seven smaller waterways: Otter, Little Otter, Beaver Meadow, Chase, Burnt, and Crooked Creeks. All eventually flow into the Black River that continues on north into Lake Ontario. It’s truly a beautiful area in any season of the year. Yes, even in winter. I supply color maps of the Otter Creek Horse Trails for your hiking adventures.

The Adirondacks
The Adirondack Park covers some 6.1 million acres, a land area roughly the size of Vermont and greater than the National Parks of Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Glacier, and the Great Smoky Mountains combined. The Adirondack Park is a publicly protected area encompassing much of the northeastern portion of Upstate New York. It is the largest state-protected area in the contiguous United States and the largest National Historic Landmark.
